CALL FOR ARTISTS DESCRIPTION:
The Show will run 2 days, over a weekend, and will run in conjunction with and advertised Nationally as part of “Canada Historic Places Day” on Saturday July 6, 2019. There will be a public opening reception the evening prior. Works may be listed for sale or Not For Sale, but we do request the ability to use the high resolution digital copy of selected work for our Christmas Marketing, ie: 2019 Christmas Card and a Commemorative Coffee Table Book. Artwork must reflect the SS Sicamous, or other ships in the Heritage Park, during the Winter months, preferably taken during the last 24 months or if a shot from the street side, since the new front wharf was built.
Art work will be juried and selected pieces will be displayed on board the ship for the July 6th, 2019 weekend. At the Opening Reception and throughout the show, the public will be invited to cast their vote as to which piece will be featured on our Official Christmas Card for the 2019 season (with appropriate artist recognition). The winner will be recognized on our website and on social media.
Images selected may be included in a 2019 Commemorative Coffee Table book with proceeds going to support the upkeep and maintenance of the SS Sicamous. (with appropriate artist recognition)
These books will be available for order at the Opening Event, and following the show, for purchase in our Gift Shop and at participating venues, such as Visitor Information locations.
HOW TO APPLY:
Artists may submit a maximum of 3 artworks electronically for adjudication to The SS Sicamous Heritage Society at firstname.lastname@example.org by midnight Monday April 15th, 2019.
Please contact our office for the Registration Form, complete and attach up to 3 images in high resolution, suitable for printing, in jpeg format and return to our office via email to email@example.com. Please put “WinterScapes Submission” in the subject line. Larger format should be submitted using Google Drive.
Fine Print (Details)
-Artists are invited to submit photos of up to 3 works in any 2D medium, by email, in high resolution JPEG format
-Artwork must have been created in the last 24 months.
-Artists will be notified as to the jurors’ decisions by April 30, 2019.
-All accepted artwork must be properly prepared for presentation/hanging. As wall space is limited, artists may be requested to provide their own table or floor easel.
-Only works selected by the jury are eligible for exhibition.
-Artwork must be the same as the images selected by the jury; no substitutions will be accepted.
-All selected pieces must be delivered to SS Sicamous on July 3, between the hours of 9 am and 4pm, unless prior arrangements have been agreed to; late deliveries will not be accepted.
-Works cannot be sold outside
the show or removed from the exhibit during the duration of the show.
-Artists will retain 60% of their sales from the show.
-Transport of works to and from the gallery is the responsibility of the artist.
-Artists must pick up their work after the show on July 7 between 5-7pm (unless other arrangements have been made).
