A list of Events at the SS Sicamous – in Penticton, BC
Annual Events at the SS Sicamous
The SS Sicamous is the largest surviving stern wheeler in Canada. It is now preserved as a heritage site, museum and must-see tourist attraction. You can find us on the beach in Penticton (at the South of Okanagan Lake). As well as a museum, the ship also hosts a range of fundraising events and activities that take place through out the year. If you would like to stay up to date on news and events, simply join the SS Sicamous email list.
Event is on Sunday June 18th 2017 from 1 to 3pm.
An afternoon of pirate themed games, crafts and activities. This event is perfect for families with young children. It happens on Father’s Day each year. Mums, grandparents and carers are welcome too. Admission is $5 per child, and free for accompanying adults.
The Antique Machines Show
A display of unusual and antique machinery, set out on the grass in front of the SS Sicamous. The collection is owned by volunteers from the Old Boys with Old Toys club. They work to maintain the machines, and will be happy to show you how they work. Some of the engines will be running, and Dave may even give you a demonstration on his antique laundry machine! The Old Boys with Old Toys also participate in the annual Peach City Beach Cruise in June each year, and can be found at the Penticton Lakawana Park (close to the beach, beside the Patio concession stand). Second Weekend in August 2017 (Saturday August 12th & Sun 13th)
**September 2017 **
A three day celebration of jazz and live music, with venues spread all over Penticton. Purchase a wristband, and make your way from one performance to the next. Tickets are available online, and in person at the South Okanagan Event Centre (the SOEC)
An Annual Christmas Craft Market, with handmade and vintage vendors from all over the Okanagan Valley, and from Vancouver too. Market is organized by Laurel Burnham and the Okanagan Makers Society. The fair will be on Saturday November 18th and Sunday November 19th 2017.
A 1920’s themed party on board the ship, with live music, local wines and beers, and a swing dance lesson too. The next event is planned for the 2nd Saturday in March 2018 – (Saturday March 10th 2018)
A children’s event that is part of the larger “LocoLanding Easter Egg Hunt”. The hunt is on Easter Monday each year ( April 17th 2017).
